BIOME
112-114, avenue Émile Zola + 52-58 rue Violet
75015 Paris
Area
24 600 m²
BIOME is a project based on the values of a building with a long history and a remarkable site in the heart of the 15th arrondissement.
Through a bold transformation, SFL is transforming this office building into a responsible, mixed-use programme that is open to the city.
BIOME is about creating a dialogue between the outside and inside of the building. The structure of the building and its singular form create an exchange with the urban fabric.
The remarkable architecture of this development, which opens onto a large garden visible from the street, provides a new source of breathing space for the neighbourhood.

"From the earth has emerged a new structure, the exoskeleton of the Zola pavilion. Like two trees of different species, in the heart of a wooded garden, the two buildings interact with each other. Together, they create a new ecosystem in the heart of Paris's 15th arrondissement. A slender footbridge links them, spanning a green corridor. Nature enters the interior through its fluid forms, and the path is designed like a choreography, making the relationship with space natural and instinctive.

"Based on the existing building, the aim was to create a new contemporary architecture that could be seen from both inside and outside. The importance given to flows has determined the way in which spaces are organised. Bringing natural light into the spaces was also a structuring priority in the design. We sought to provide maximum transparency to allow permanent visual escapes, particularly towards the garden.
Yrieix Martineau, Architect.
